Vietnam is a Communist state. A Communist state is a government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single party holds power. The state controls are imposed with the elimination of private ownership of property or capital while claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.
National Leaders
The president of Vietnam is Tuong Tan Sang, The Prime Minister is Nguyen Tan Dung. Nguyen Phu Trong is the Secretary-general of the Communist Party. Vietnam President Tuong Tan Sang was a former mayor and party chief in Ho Chi Minh City. He was born 1949. He was imprisoned from 1971 to 1973, because he served as a communist fighter for the north during the Vietnam War. Communists Part Nguyen Phu Trong was born in 1944. For the previous five years he had been head of the National Assembly. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung was elected in 2006, and re-elected in July 2011.Under Nguyen Tan Dung's leadership, international human rights groups accuse Vietnam of taking a tougher stance against political dissidents, including those peacefully those expressing their views online.
Military
Vietnam's military is known as Vietnamese People's Army and the People's Army of Vietnam. The military flag of the People's Army of Vietnam is the flag of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with the words Quyet thang (Determination to Win) added in yellow at the top left. In 2010 the People's army of people undertook the role of leading the 1,000th Anniversary Parade in Haoni by performing their biggest parade in Vietnam's history.
